Panpsychism (Bronze, 213 x 71 x 64 cm)

Panpsychism, from the Greek pan (“all”) and psyche (“soul” or “mind”), proposes that consciousness is not exclusive to complex life but is a fundamental feature of the universe itself. Rather than emerging solely from brains, mind is embedded in all matter, however small or seemingly inert.

As philosopher William Seager observes, “At a very basic level, the world is awake.” This sculpture reflects that insight, inviting us to reconsider the divisions we impose between subject and object, animate and inanimate.

In its quiet presence, Panpsychism gestures towards a cosmos where awareness is woven through every form, a reminder that consciousness may be more expansive and elemental than we have imagined.
