Cosmic Technologies for the Visual Introspection Systems. Six of FURIOSA’s most potent artists have come together to celebrate its three year anniversary with a gallery directed project aimed at building its most avant-garde proposal yet, CTVIS; dropping at Zona MACO 2024. The CDMX based roster have studied/extracted/processed/created material registries of their experience as residents of this creative capital in a collaborative world-recreating intention the product of which will be deployed in five exhibitions:
The Serpent and the Cosmic Egg
This series unfolds around two potent symbols found in ancient cosmologies across the world: the cosmic egg and the divine serpent. These motifs speak to primordial mysteries, origins, creation, and transformation that have captivated human imagination for millennia.
Within esoteric tradition, the Orphic Egg represents the philosopher’s soul, a vessel suspended between boundaries and infinity. It is a symbol of potentiality and emergence, the seed from which all existence is born and to which all returns. This egg is both container and cosmos, a microcosm that reflects the vastness of the universe.
Encircling this cosmic form, the serpent weaves through history as a bearer of wisdom and mystery. In many cultures, the serpent embodies cyclical renewal, the shedding of skin, the eternal return and serves as guardian of sacred knowledge. It is the living symbol of the Mysteries: those concealed truths that resist full articulation but call us toward deeper understanding.
Together, the egg and serpent frame a cosmic narrative: the universe as a luminous whole, enfolded within the fiery, creative spirit that animates all life. Their interplay gestures toward the continual dance of birth, death, and rebirth; the intertwining of the material and the spiritual; and the endless unfolding of transformation.
The Serpent and the Cosmic Egg invites us into this ancient dialogue, asking us to witness and participate in the rhythms that shape existence itself, timeless, mysterious, and endlessly renewing.
